The ‘Ukrainian production’ is a reference to the activities of the Azerbaijani Palladium group of companies. This multifaceted company is engaged in the maintenance of military and naval transport, the design and modernization of equipment and optics, and cooperates with various enterprises in Georgia, Germany, the UAE, the USA, Japan, and now, Ukraine.
Azerbaijan’s Support to Ukraine
Throughout the Special Military Operation, Azerbaijan had not extended military aid to Ukraine. Instead, its support was restricted to four areas: medical-psychological rehabilitation for affected children, military rehabilitation, energy sector support, and post-war recovery. With the recent revelation of artillery shell production, this marks the addition of a fifth area of assistance from Azerbaijan to Ukraine.
International Support for Ukraine’s Ammunition Needs
The production of these shells is part of a broader international commitment to supply Ukraine with 1 million artillery shells by March 2024. Finland is gearing up to produce artillery shells to bolster Kiev in its conflict with Russia. Additionally, Rheinmetall, a German company, has bagged a substantial order to supply Ukraine with artillery rounds worth approximately EUR 142 million. This order comprises tens of thousands of complete 155 mm artillery rounds and is aimed at supporting Ukraine in its defensive struggle.
