Thanks for your contribution, at least we know why Australia had to be trolled like this.

Unthinking Majority wrote:No i didn't, I said he was placed in border detention as a result of committing immigration fraud (lying on documents) along with other COVID concerns while they figured it all out. He has no right to enter the country no matter what any judge says, especially when he lied and has had other COVID concerns. I never said his passport, visa, or vax status weren't valid.

And supposedly it's the anti-vaxxers that are whackos.
Dude seriously, try to comprehend the timeline of the events as well as the role of the Australian PM who explicitly abused Djokovic for his own personal political propaganda.
Djokovic was arrested at the airport at the orders of the Prime Minister of Australia who then paraded him around as his personal trophy. Djokovic was arrested at the airport while having a valid medical exemption and a valid visa. His documents were reconfirmed as valid by an Australian judge and it took an executive order by the Immigration Minister at the orders of the PM to declare him a "threat to the public interest" under a freaking anti-terrorist law.
The instagram nonsense the Australian government has released to justify this exceptionally idiotic behaviour on their part is not an actual excuse. Djokovic's presence in Spain was deemed valid for his visa and exemption documents by an Australian judge.
Trying to justify this crap as having any sort of legality is beyond the pale.
The Australian PM decided to scapegoat Djokovic for his anti-vax views and when the law of Australia stood on his way he took personal executive action to snatch & kick Djokovic out of the country. What the fuck are you people willing to condone?
It's the same as the US President following celebrities on instagram and taking executive action to stop them from entering the US when US judges and the Immigration authorities responsible for these documents deem their documents valid.
It does not get any more pathetic than this.
noemon wrote:Why are you simping for the Australian PM taking executive authority under an anti-terrorist law and taking matters into his own hands to overrule Australian authorities and judges who deemed Djokovic's papers as valid and in order?
Why are you simping for a western PM who took it upon himself to politically imprison a sportsman?
I couldn't give a toss about Djokovic. The Australian PM is the real issue here. He is a riducule, who0 has not only ridiculed himself, but his government, nation and ze "west".
JohnRawls wrote:He is beholden to the people and the public opinion, ultimately it is the people who are the holders of power in any democratic country. I don't give a rats ass about the Australian PM and I don't even have a clue what his name is and what he stands for. What I do care is that the rules were followed and a cheater of those rules was punished. Simple as that.
You for some reason, think that Djokovic did nothing wrong. I am not sure I can agree on that considering all of the revelations.
noemon wrote:If you did care for rules and laws you would have the capacity to comprehend that Australian authorities granted Djokovic a valid visa and a valid medical exemption. The validity of which were reconfirmed by an Australian judge.
It took the PM of Australia an executive order under an anti-terrorist law to kick Djokovic out of the country, overstepping the authority of Australian judges and the relevant Australian bodies that approved Djokovic's papers.
You do not actually give a shit about rules and laws, just like the Australian PM does not give a shit about them(and hence his use of anti-terrorist laws and executive dictat to get his way) and only give a shit about your personal crusade against famous anti-vaxxers and at a point that nobody gives a crap because this pandemic is over.
Of course you do not know or care to know about the actions of the Australian PM.
But you care about "laws" that are being trampled by executive orders.
Statement regarding Mr Novak Djokovic
Today I exercised my power under section 133C(3) of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so.
This decision followed orders by the Federal Circuit and Family Court on 10 January 2022, quashing a prior cancellation decision on procedural fairness grounds.
In making this decision, I carefully considered information provided to me by the Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Border Force and Mr Djokovic.
The Morrison Government is firmly committed to protecting Australia’s borders, particularly in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
I thank the officers of the Department of Home Affairs and the Australian Border Force who work every day to serve Australia’s interests in increasingly challenging operational environments.
Background (non-attributable)
The Minister for Immigration has broad discretionary powers to cancel visas where it is in the public interest to do so, including relying on a health, safety or good order basis.
Following an adverse decision under section 133C(3), the affected person would not be able to be granted a visa (while offshore) for a period of three years, except in certain circumstances. Certain circumstances include, compelling circumstances that affect the interests of Australia or compassionate or compelling circumstances affecting the interests of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
(3) The Minister may cancel a visa held by a person if:
(a) the Minister is satisfied that a ground for cancelling the visa under section 116 exists; and
(b) the Minister is satisfied that it would be in the public interest to cancel the visa.

JohnRawls wrote:It might seem that way to you. I am not 100% sure that I buy your terrorism take on the cancelation. If it was the case then you are right. The problem is that it seems to be your take so can you please provide evidence of that?
What I can see is:
The Guardian wrote:The glimpse of the government’s actions in the Djokovic case illuminate the capricious and arbitrary attitude taken by the Australian government towards people seeking entry.
Australia is unique among liberal democracies for indefinitely detaining asylum seekers (though only those who arrive by boat).
noemon wrote:Our Australian residents claim that these Ministerial "god-powers" as referred to in Australia are a direct consequence of the legislation passed during the 'war-on-terror'.
